Myanmar’s women’s national football team earned a resounding 6-0 win over Bahrain in their final Group C match of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, held on 5 July at Thuwunna Youth Training Centre in Yangon.
Despite being eliminated from qualification after their earlier 1-2 loss to Bangladesh, the hosts finished their campaign with a dominant performance.
Head coach Yuki reintroduced key striker Win Theingi Tun into the starting line-up, supported by Phyu Phyu Win, Khin Mo Mo Tun, May Htet Lu and San Thaw Thaw. Myanmar dominated possession from kick-off but opened the scoring only in 39 minutes. The team netted three goals in each half.
Goal scorers for Myanmar were Shwe Yi Htun in 39 minutes and 42 minutes, Khin Mo Mo Tun in 45+5 minutes, Win Theingi Tun in 52 minutes, May Htet Lu in 58 minutes, and Win Win in 73 minutes.
In the group’s other match, Bangladesh crushed Turkmenistan 7-0 to top Group C with nine points and secure qualification. Myanmar finished second with six points, while Bahrain and Turkmenistan ended with just one point each and failed to advance. — Chit Ko Ko/KZL

As a gesture of humanitarian support, the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) of Brazil donated 500,000 doses of the BCG vaccine, valued at around US$90,000, to Myanmar for use in the immunization programmes of the Department of Public Health under the Ministry of Health.The vaccines arrived at Yangon International Airport yesterday afternoon via MAI Airlines. The BCG vaccine needs to be administered to newborns within 24 hours of birth. If it cannot be given within the first 24 hours, it can still be administered either before the infant reaches two months of age or together with other vaccines at the age of two months. 2025 BRIDGE Summer Camp : Myanmar youth delegates join the camp in Japan
A group of six Myanmar students is currently representing the country as Junior Ambassadors at the 37th BRIDGE Summer Camp 2025, held from July 12 to 21 in Fukuoka, Japan.The international youth event is organized by the Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention (APCC), bringing together 190 children from 42 countries across the Asia-Pacific region. During the first part of the camp, the students stayed at the Fukuoka Marine House Camp, where they shared dormitories, participated in cultural exchange activities, visited local schools, and enjoyed meals together with other international delegates.As part of the program, the Myanmar delegates are now staying with local Japanese host families in a home-stay experience, attending school with Japanese children and engaging in classroom activities and cultural sharing.The Myanmar team is also performing the traditional “Nway Oo Kabya” Thingyan dance at the We Are the BRIDGE Festival 2025, scheduled for July 18, alongside performances by other countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended the first twice-yearly injection as a tool to prevent HIV infection. The injectable prep drug is a long-acting alternative to the current daily pills and could make prevention more accessible globally at a critical time when such efforts are stagnating.Public health and HIV expert Dr Bridget Haire explained why the new drug is a game changer. Taking a daily pill can be burdensome, and it's easy to forget.
