NDSC Meeting: National Defence and Security Council held its meeting
The National Defence and Security Council held its meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Pro-Tem President (Duty) Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the meeting and made a speech, outlining the government’s activities since assuming State duties, based on established objectives and a defined roadmap.
He pledged to hold a multi-party democratic general election in the upcoming December, with the necessary laws being enacted to ensure the success of this goal. He stated that, to ensure broad participation from ethnic groups and representatives from all strata of society, the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) system would be used for the Pyithu Hluttaw election, while the Mixed-Member Proportional (MMP) system would be applied for the Amyotha Hluttaw and Region/State Hluttaw elections. To guarantee a free, fair, and transparent election, international observers have been invited, and the election results will serve as evidence to the world of a dignified and credible Hluttaw.
He added that, as the entrusted duties have now been fulfilled, he has submitted a request for the revocation of the state of emergency and the handover of State responsibilities to the National Defence and Security Council. He also emphasized the need for continued cooperation in the preparation processes for the election. This was followed by discussions of the National Defence and Security Council members, at which the Pro-Tem President (Duty) made remarks. With the unamnimous approval, the Pro-Tem President (Duty) announced the revocation of the State Administration Council, and the meeting concluded.
