  • From beauty contests to premium pet food, thousands attend Hong Kong cat expo

Tens of thousands of cat lovers descend on Hong Kong's Exhibition Centre for an expo dedicated to everything feline, from premium cat food, to paw imprint jewelry and fur shampoo. The three-day event included the CFA WCC Cat Show Competition.

A survey by the expo organizer found that Hong Kong cat owners are spending an average of USD$255 on their pets, 6.2 per cent higher than last year. The rise highlights how "cat economy" is becoming an increasingly important driver of growth, spanning multiple sectors including food, supplies, healthcare, services, cultural and creative products, and pet-friendly tourism.
