NAGA New Year Festival will take place from 15 to 17 January in Lahe, Naga Self-Administered Zone on a grand scale, said U Aung Htut, chair of the Naga Traditional Literature and Culture Association (Central). Leshi, Lahe and Nanyun towns of the Self-Administered Zone rotate their turns to host this annual festival after the harvest season.
“The festival is held in Naga’s three towns in turn. The festival is hoped to strengthen ties of Naga ethnic people, promote culture and effectuate socio-development. Naga traditional dance, music, performance and Naga feast will be included,” U Aung Htut elaborated.
Naga traditional dance and performance with distinctive traditional clothes decorated with silver bangles, hornbills, plumes, goat’s tails, boar teeth and buffalo horns enhance the visitors and tourists with its rich and unique culture. The opening day of the festival coincides with the 35th anniversary of the Traditional Naga Literature and Culture Association. The Naga Traditional New Year Sports

OVER 10,000 domestic and international tourists visited Taungthaman Bridge and Taungthaman Lake in Mandalay Region during the public holiday period. According to U Soe Win, secretary of the Taungthaman Bridge Maintenance Committee, the highest number of visitors was recorded on the full moon day of Taboung.Taungthaman Bridge and Taungthaman Lake are among the most popular tourist destinations in Mandalay Region, attracting both local and foreign visitors.“The number of visitors on the full moon day of Taboung was significantly higher than usual. People from various parts of upper and lower Myanmar came to visit. Normally, around 400 to 500 visitors come per day, but during this public holiday period, the number increased to over 2,000 per day. The number of foreign tourists remained stable,” U Soe Win said.Recently, the majority of domestic tourists visiting Taungthaman Bridge and Taungthaman Lake have come from cities such as Mandalay, PyinOoLwin, Taunggyi, and Yangon. ACCORDING to U Khun Sai Pha, an official from the Pa-o Ethnic Literature and Culture Association in Kayin State, the 76th anniversary of Pa-O National Day will be celebrated alongside the traditional Taboung Festival in areas predominantly inhabited by the Pa-O ethnic people in Kayin State on 13 March, the full moon of Taboung.“This festival will be held in the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone and major cities in Shan State (South), where the Pa-O ethnic group predominantly resides, with traditional Pa-O songs and dances. PUBLIC interest in visiting Kyaukkalat Beach located in Ayeyawady Region has elevated, according to a social media post.The beautiful beach, Kyaukkalat is located southernmost of Datezun, the opposite of Mawtinzun in Ayeyawady’s Ngaputaw Township and close to Hainggyi Island.“It is still untouched and beautiful wildly. There are similar natural sceneries in Myanmar. Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary seeks ASEAN Heritage Park status
THE Bago Region Government has revealed that efforts are underway to designate the Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary in Bago Township, Bago Region, as an ASEAN Heritage Park.In support of this designation, initiatives will be implemented to raise public awareness about the sustainable use of Moeyungyi Lake’s wetland resources and ecosystem services.Additionally, community-based conservation efforts will be enhanced to ensure the long-term preservation of the natural ecosystem.The Moeyungyi Lake, which spans 25,600 acres, has become a seasonal refuge for various migratory bird species this year. Among them are the lesser whistling duck, gadwall, cotton pygmy goose, tufted duck, black-headed ibis, ruddy shelduck, northern pintail, Asian openbill, blackwinged stilt, river tern, and spotbilled pelican. Notably, rare bird species such as the glossy ibis have also been observed.According to records, the Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary is home to 120 mammal species, 28 species of amphibians and reptiles, 33 insect species, 77 resident bird species, 44 species of fish, and 74 species of aquatic plants during the winter season.As an inland wetland area, the Moeyungyi Lake serves as a critical habitat for migratory birds and endangered bird species. It is also an important site along the East Asia-Australasia Flyway network, offering a well-preserved natural ecosystem with rich biodiversity. Bagan Archaeological Museum receives K48M+ over 9 months
BAGAN Archaeological Museum located in NyaungU Township in Mandalay Region has received more than K48 million from the admission of local and foreign tourists over nine months of the current financial year, according to the Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Bagan branch) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.From April to December, 45,072 domestic travellers and 300 international travellers, totalling 45,372 visited there, said an official.“Admission fee is K1,000 per local while K10,000 per foreigner, so total income is more than K48 million. Tourist arrival is larger on weekends and usually peaks in December,” he said.At present, there is the arrival of 100-200 local visitors per day regularly and more on weekends. Except Monday and public holidays, it is open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm daily and free admission is provided for children under 12 years old, monks and nuns.Bagan Archaeological Museum received over K71.9 million from 94,951 local and foreign tourist arrivals last year. — MT/ZSSource: The Global New Light of Myanmar
