At the invitation of Mr Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, State Administration Council Chairman and Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, will pay an official goodwill visit to the Russian Federation in the coming days. During the goodwill visit, the Myanmar delegation will meet Russian President Mr Vladimir Putin, the Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, and other officials from the Russian government to discuss issues related to friendship, economic affairs and security, and to strengthen strategic cooperation across all sectors. In its resolution 53/26, the Human Rights Council requested the High Commissioner to monitor and follow up on the implementation of the recommendations made by the independent international fact-finding mission on Myanmar, including those on accountability, and to continue to track progress in the situation of human rights in Myanmar, including of Rohingya Muslims and other minorities, with the support of specialist experts and in complementarity to the work of the Independent Mechanism for Myanmar and thereports of the Special Rapporteur, and to present an oral update to the Council at its fifty-eighth session, to be followed by an interactive dialogue.
