76th Pa-O National Day to illuminate traditional Taboung Festival celebrations
ACCORDING to U Khun Sai Pha, an official from the Pa-o Ethnic Literature and Culture Association in Kayin State, the 76th anniversary of Pa-O National Day will be celebrated alongside the traditional Taboung Festival in areas predominantly inhabited by the Pa-O ethnic people in Kayin State on 13 March, the full moon of Taboung.
“This festival will be held in the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone and major cities in Shan State (South), where the Pa-O ethnic group predominantly resides, with traditional Pa-O songs and dances. It will also be celebrated in other areas of the country where the Pa-O ethnic group lives. In Kayin State, preparations are underway for a grand celebration in the Myaingkalay region,” he said. — ASH/TH
