Yangon residents flock to Chaungtha Beach over public holiday
Among those who visit Chaungtha Beach during public holidays through travel companies, the majority are Yangon residents.
Visitor arrival to the beach has been non-stop but usually increased on weekends.
“Visitor arrival doesn’t stop but usually increases on weekends and holidays. Most visitors come by travel agencies. Famous hotels are full of visitors on weekends. Visitors come with friends or families, and most are Yangon residents. The road to Chaungtha is fine," said a resident.
In August, local visitor arrival increased in Bagan and Popa as the rain level was low in such locations. Similarly, many people visit Hpa-an, where natural sceneries look beautiful, especially during monsoon season. Some visitors went on day trips to places around Yangon.
In May, the arrival of local visitors from Yangon and Ayeyawady regions also mounted in Ngwehsaung Beach, and people also flocked to beaches in order to escape the heat last summer. –— Thit Taw/ZS
