HUNTING dress of Prince Sudhanu of Ayutthaya, famous in Myanmar mythology, has been recreated by Myat Theinkhange from the Myat Taw Win Royal Attire Service.
Min Thant, Face of Myanmar – 2024 Male Model Winner, was dressed in the style of Prince’s attire when he went out hunting in the forest. He was the lover of the mythical bird Manawhari.
“In Myanmar fables, the character of the archer Sudhanu is re-created. Ko Min Thant is a GYM Trainer, as well as the 2024 Male Model Winner. His body is strong, and his appearance is unusual. He is topless and dressed in the style that princes wear when they are out in the forest.
He is holding bows and arrows, wearing a sash, a light headscarf, shoes and sandals,” he said. His re-making was aimed at reviving Myanmar’s mythical characters, and he was happy to find that young people have been recently interested in the clothing of ancient princes and court clothes.
“Now, I see many people taking this kind of dress seriously and showing interest. Models are recreating the styles of ancient kings, princes and warlords and competing, and it’s great to see people interested. As people want to preserve their traditional heritage and wear it, I’m really happy,” he said. — MT/ZN

ACCORDING to Ko Aung Kyaw Kyaw, who is currently carrying out the work, the first phase of the restoration of the historic Chanthagyi Buddha statue in Mandalay, which collapsed due to the earthquake, has been completed.The head of the statue was completely broken off due to the recent Mandalay earthquake. The restoration of the Buddha statue’s head would be carried out in stages, including rubbing off and polishing the face, applying resin, gilding, and installing a golden crown, he had previously said.The original work on the statue’s facial features was made during the reign of King Thayawady. WITH efforts by the Myanmar Boxing Commission (MBC), the national flag of Myanmar is now included on the championship belts awarded by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF).Formed in 2024 with the approval of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, the Myanmar Boxing Commission has since organized professional boxing matches locally and facilitated the participation of Myanmar boxers in international bouts, including WBC-sanctioned events in Japan and OPBF matches in Thailand.In February 2025, the WBC and its affiliate OPBF, which recognize over 160 member countries, officially accepted MBC as a member nation. As a result, Myanmar’s national flag is now represented on their championship belts.WBC is one of the four major global sanctioning bodies in professional boxing, alongside WBA, WBO and IBF. ON the occasion of World Oral Health Day, Regional Director for WHO South-East Asia, Saima Wazed brought attention towards the need for prioritizing oral health to tackle diseases and bring about positive health outcomes in South-East Asia.“World Oral Health Day, marked annually on 20 March, draws attention to oral health being a key indicator of overall health, well-being and quality of life.Oral diseases are among the most common noncommunicable diseases worldwide, affecting an estimated 3.5 billion people,” Wazed said.She noted that the World Health Organization is calling on the countries of the South-East Asia Region and partners for accelerated action, reiterating the commitments of the Bangkok Declaration “No Health Without Oral Health”, adopted at the WHO Global Oral Health Meeting in November 2024. She noted that oral diseases and conditions cause physical symptoms, functional limitations, and a detrimental impact on emotional, mental and social well-being. Among the six WHO regions, South-East Asia reports the highest number — approximately 900 million cases of oral diseases and conditions — reflecting the region’s large population. NAY PYI TAW March 19Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, accompanied by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Commander of the Eastern Command, and other res ponsible officials, visited and delivered words of encouragement to officers, other ranks, and members of the People's Militia (Local) who are receiving treatment at the military hospital in Aungban Town, Shan State (South), this morning.First, the Vice-Senior General and party arrived at the local military hospital in Aungban Town, where they were welcomed and greeted by the hospital commandant, military medical officers, and responsible officials.Subsequently, the commandant briefed the Vice-Senior General on the current healthcare services provided to officers, other ranks, members of the People's Militia (Local), and local civilians, as well as other necessary requirements, in the hospital's conference hall. The Vice-Senior General provided guidance and addressed the necessary needs.Following this, the Vice-Senior General and his entourage individually inquired about the health conditions of the officers, other ranks, and members of the People's Militia (Local) who were injured while performing national defence and security duties and are now receiving treatment at the hospital.
