  • Italian PM Meloni meets with Algerian President Tebboune in Rome

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday welcomed Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Rome for a summit.

The meeting took place two weeks after Algeria's state-run hydrocarbon company and the Italian energy company signed a production sharing contract worth $1.35 billion to explore and develop hydrocarbons in southeastern Algeria. The 30-year contract covers the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Zemoul El Kbar contract area, in the Berkine Basin.

French President Macron announced on Thursday that France will officially recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September.
