Ukraine proposes holding meeting between Putin, Zelensky by late August
After the third round of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul, the heads of the two delegations,Vladimir Medinskiy and Rustem Umerov addressed the press.
Medinskiy said that the parties had spent a long time working on the memorandums they had prepared, that they had reached an agreement on some humanitarian issues, and that the discussions would continue. Umerov, on the other hand, stated that the leaders of the two countries had proposed a meeting at the end of August, at which Donald Trump and Erdoğan would also be present.
Speaking at a news conference following Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Istanbul which lasted less than an hour, Rustem Umerov said that during their meeting, the delegations discussed the priorities of both sides.
According to him, Kyiv also expects “further progress” on exchanges of prisoners between countries.
