Top diplomat added Russia-China partnership is based on “the high level of mutual trust”.

“The high level of mutual trust allows us to intensively develop military and military-technical cooperation, conduct joint military exercises, organize air and sea patrols, and carry out friendly interaction in the area of the common border.

“All this helps to strengthen the security of our countries, maintain international and regional stability, primarily in Greater Eurasia,” Lavrov said in an article for the Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily.

The article is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China.

“At the same time, our actions are absolutely transparent, are taken in strict accordance with international law and are not directed against third countries,” the minister said.

He said that despite the various restrictive measures imposed by the United States and its satellite states, the economies of Russia and China continue to develop dynamically. — SPUTNIK

Traffic on Jaffa Road, a major street in Jerusalem, returned to normal shortly after the attacks, though a heavier-than-usual police presence remained, according to Xinhua correspondents.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that Israel would retaliate against Iran’s missile attack. “Whoever attacks us — we will attack him,” Netanyahu told a Security Cabinet meeting focused on potential counter-attacks and the ground military campaign in Lebanon.

THE Israeli army said it launched a ground offensive in Lebanon and that its forces engaged in clashes Tuesday, further escalating the conflict after a week of intense air strikes that killed hundreds.

The UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon said, however, the Israeli operation did not amount to a “ground incursion” and while Hezbollah denied any troops had crossed the border, an Israeli security official said localized raids had taken place and they were limited in scope.

There was no way to immediately verify the claims, which came as Israel targeted south Beirut, Damascus and Gaza, despite international calls for restraint to avoid a regional conflagration.

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant warned the fight was far from over, even after a massive strike on Beirut killed Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah on Friday. His death dealt a heavy blow to the Iran-backed group.

There is pervasive tension and uncertainty in the region,” he said.

“The world must not allow an all-out war to happen in this volatile region,” he stressed.

Yang called on all those with influence on the parties to demand an immediate ceasefire and dialogue, and urged all states supplying weapons to the region to desist from such actions and “give peace a chance”.

Emphasizing that negotiations and diplomatic solutions must take precedence over brutal force, he said the Charter of the United Nations instructs that member states settle their disputes peacefully, so as not to endanger international peace and security. — Xinhua
