In order to enhance economic relations among ASEAN member states, a meeting on financial mechanisms of ASEAN Power Grid interconnection projects was hosted by Malaysia as an alternate chair of ASEAN Energy Ministers’ Meeting through video conferencing on 14th August.ASEAN Geoeconomics Task Force Leader of Myanmar, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Wah Wah Maung, Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, and high ranking officials from relevant departments and sectors attended the meeting via video conferencing.Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin called for the support of the Asian Development Bank and World Bank in assisting Myanmar to be included in ASEAN Power Grid Financing Facility (APGF) projects. Highlighting the significant of Myanmar’s geological condition and geopolitcal potentials, the Union Minister welcomed the investors to invest in Myanmar.He also assured Myanmar’s active participation in ASEAN region energy sector development process. Union Minister Dr. Wah Wah Maung also made a discussion on engery suffciency within ASEAN region, and encouraged to implement effective and comprehensive approach to ensure sustainable development of energy within the region.During the meeting, ASEAN Energy Ministers, Economic Ministers, Finance Ministers, Governors of the Central Bank, ASEAN Secretariat, Asian Development Bank and World Bank made discussions on discussions on drafting strategic plans to implement APGF and ASEAN Power Grid APG projects.mitv
