Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Khun Thant Zaw Htoo, accompanied by relevant officials, visited the Union Ethnic Village (Yangon) on the morning of July 27 to inspect the ongoing upgrading activities as well as to assess the projects planned for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.The Union Minister and officials first met with the staff working at the Union Ethnic Village, delivered a speech, and offered words of encouragement. Following that, the village director presented a PowerPoint briefing on the progress and current status of the operations, after which the Union Minister and the Regional Minister for Ethnic Affairs provided coordinated guidance based on the reports.Subsequently, the staff shared various challenges they were facing, to which the Union Minister responded by providing necessary support and solutions. In the afternoon, the Union Minister and officials toured the traditional ethnic food stalls and ethnic houses representing the Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Bamar, Mon, Rakhine, and Shan groups inside the village.Based on the reports presented by officials, the Union Minister issued directives for further needs and presented cash assistance to staff. The Union Minister and officials also observed the public visits during the holidays, interacting warmly with both local visitors and tourists to ensure they were enjoying their time comfortably and peacefully.Later, the Union Minister inspected several upcoming development projects under the 2025–2026 Union budget, including staff housing projects, landscaping and land development, ornamental flower planting, general repairs to the women’s dormitory, six renovation projects costing under 20 million kyats.The Union Minister gave further instructions and guidance based on what was observed and the briefings presented by the responsible officials.
