  • Showing Sympathy : Diplomats sign the Book of Condolence

The Ambassadors and Heads of Mission to Myanmar signed the Book of Condolence opened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sagawah Street of Yangon, to honour the memory of Pro-Tem President U Myint Swe, who passed away on 7 August 2025.

On 9 August, the Ambassadors of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Russian Federation and Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Charges d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, State of Qatar, Brunei Darussalam and Saudi Arabia signed the Book of Condolence.

The senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warmly received the Ambassadors and Heads of Mission upon their arrival. The Ambassadors and Heads of Mission conveyed their profound condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family of the Pro Tem President as well as to the Government and people of Myanmar.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely on 17 August and beyond, due to the intensification of the low-pressure area in the central-western Bay of Bengal, according to meteorologist U Win Naing.Windy application described that Japan’s Meteorological Agency has declared a Category-1 typhoon due to the probable impact of Typhoon Podul from the east.The typhoon is forecast to pass through central Chinese Taipei and continue into the coasts of China. OWIC approved for 70+ skilled workers’ overseas employment
Safe Migration said 73 skilled workers who are going to Japan, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Papua New Guinea, France and India on their own will be allowed for training and Overseas Worker Identification Card (OWIC) application.They will have to attend the training on 14 August, and the OWIC application is being scheduled on 15 August, and they need to inform if they are unable to do so according to the schedule.Furthermore, OWIC was also allowed for 76 workers on leave and going back to Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, the USA and Macao. According to the observations at 17:30 hrs MST today, monsoon will be strong over the Andanman Sae and Bay of Bengal, due to the unstable air condition over the Bay of Bengal, rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Mandalay, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and Kayah, Chin States and fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady ,Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine, Shan States with regionally and isolated heavyfalls during 13-8-2025 to 17-8-2025. Squall with rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph.
