Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely on 17 August and beyond, due to the intensification of the low-pressure area in the central-western Bay of Bengal, according to meteorologist U Win Naing.
Windy application described that Japan’s Meteorological Agency has declared a Category-1 typhoon due to the probable impact of Typhoon Podul from the east.

The typhoon is forecast to pass through central Chinese Taipei and continue into the coasts of China. The remnants of the typhoon are reaching central China, and it may cause more severe flooding.
In Myanmar, Podul has little impact and moderate to heavy rainfall is expected from 17 August onwards. — MT/ZN

According to the observations at 17:30 hrs MST today, monsoon will be strong over the Andanman Sae and Bay of Bengal, due to the unstable air condition over the Bay of Bengal, rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Mandalay, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and Kayah, Chin States and fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady ,Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine, Shan States with regionally and isolated heavyfalls during 13-8-2025 to 17-8-2025. Squall with rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph.
