The national government has consistently prioritized and worked toward ensuring national stability and peace. As a result, armed terrorist groups have begun to understand and acknowledge the peace processes. In addition, they are reporting to nearby regional military bases and security outposts and reintegrating into the legal fold.

On 19 July 2025, two members of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) surrendered to security personnel in Moekaung Township of Kachin State, along with weapons and ammunition, thereby rejoining the legal fold. The surrendered items included: one KA-25 rifle with four magazines and 110 rounds of ammunition; one MA-4 rifle with three magazines and 59 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition; eight 40 mm grenades; and one BAOFENG type walkie-talkie.

The government continues to warmly welcome and accept those who choose to return to the legal fold, providing them with the necessary support and assistance. It has been noted that there are still individuals wishing to do so. Therefore, those intending to return are encouraged to contact the nearest district or township administration committee, military base or police station, where they will be received with due courtesy. In addition, appropriate monetary rewards will be provided for surrendered weapons and ammunition.

15 August 2025Terrorist groups have been engaging in battles, carrying out attacks using heavy weapons, drones to drop bombs and improvised explosive devices across towns and villages in various states and regions. Moreover, they are committing inhumane acts of terror and criminal activities including abducting and extorting money from civil servants, administrative officials and local civilians, as well as killings.Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 14 August 2025, around 7:30 PM, U Thein Han (56 years old) a staff officer from the Mahlaing Township Immigration Department; his wife, Daw Hnin Hnin Hlaing (54 years old) their son, Ko Nay Yan Lin (24 years old) a daily wage worker for the department, all residents of Pyi Thar Yar (South) Ward in Meiktila Township of Mandalay Region, were traveling in MAZDA CX 5 vehicle (license plate No. MDY-14/4I-XXXX) from Mahaling Town to Meiktila Town along the Meiktila–Mahlaing Road. When the vehicle reached an area near Tha Bot Kone Village in Mahlaing Township, a so-called PDF terrorist group opened fire on the vehicle, forcing it to stop. The terrorists then abducted the family and took them away by force, it is reported.Regarding the above incident, security personnel are continuing necessary operations in accordance with standard procedures to identify, apprehend, and take action against the terrorists involved, it is reported.MOHA

15 August 2025Terrorist groups have been engaging in battles, carrying out attacks using heavy weapons, drones to drop bombs, and improvised explosive devices across towns and villages in various states and regions. Moreover, they are committing inhumane acts of terror and criminal activities including abducting and extorting money from civil servants, administrative officials and local civilians, as well as killings.Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 14 August 2025, at 8:00 AM, three education staff, who were scheduled to attend a course at the Civil Service Academy (Lower Myanmar), were abducted by a so-called PDF terrorist group. The abducted teachers are Daw Zar Chi Thaw (36 years old) a deputy primary teacher from the Basic Education High School (La Mine), Daw Khin Lay Mon (40 years old) a junior assistant teacher from the Basic Education High School (Malt Ka Nin), and Daw Ingyin Oo (29 years old) an assistant primary teacher from the Basic Education High School (Nit Ka Yin), all from Ye Township, Mon State. The incident occurred while they were traveling in their respective passenger vehicles from Ye Town to the State Education Commissioner’s Office in Mawlamyine Town. When their vehicles reached an area near Wal Kha Mi Village in Thanbyuzayat Township, the so-called PDF terrorist group forced the vehicles to stop and abducted the teachers, it is reported.Regarding the above incident, security personnel are continuing necessary operations in accordance with standard procedures to identify, apprehend, and take action against the terrorists involved, it is reported.MOHA

14 August 2025 Terrorists are ruthlessly carrying out abductions, killings and armed attacks, using both heavy and small weapons, on wards and villages, as well as conducting drone strikes, all with the intent to harm civilians and spread fear. They are also indiscriminately planting landmines on public roads, targeting government offices with explosives and engaging in destructive acts without regard for reason or morality. Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 13 August 2025 at 7:30 PM, a report stated that a woman with shrapnel injuries was admitted to Ye Township Public Hospital in Yan Gyi Aung Ward of Mon State. When security personnel arrived at the hospital for further investigation, the victim was identified as Daw Myat Shwe (52 years old), a resident of Mile (60) Village in Yebyu Township of Tanintharyi Region. The incident occurred while the victim was walking along the Yebyu–Daewi Road located west of village, two heavy weapon shells fired by a so-called PDF terrorist group exploded nearby, resulting in her injuries, it is reported.It has been reported that the security personnel are investigating the culprits of the acts of terrorism from the above incident to take effective action in accordance with the law.MOHA
