The turret at the ancient city of Toungoo Ketumati was found on 2 February to the east of the central city gate (Mawgun Gate) on the northern city wall. Excavations in the area have so far reached a depth of approximately 50 feet.
“As we traced the original wall lines and dug further east ward, we encountered a raised mound. Upon excavation, we uncovered bricks beneath the surface. The structure extends about 18 feet outward from the city wall. The excavation is still in progress,” said an official from the Toungoo Ketumati excavation site.
