The Dambe World Series, organized by the African Warriors Fighting Championship, is set to kick off in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, marking the latest evolution of Dambe, a centuries-old form of boxing that originated among the Hausa people of northern Nigeria.  Traditionally fought with one fist wrapped in cloth and another hand acts as a shield, Dambe dates back to at least the 10th century and has deep ties to cultural and ceremonial celebrations.

The Myanmar Women’s Team has secured a spot in the final of the ASEAN Women’s Championship (MSIG Serenity Cup 2025) after a 2-1 victory over Thailand in the semi-final match on Saturday.Thailand took an early lead, scoring just six minutes into the game. However, Myanmar quickly responded with an equalizer from Win Theingi Tun in the 13th minute, leveling the score at 1-1. The first half ended with both teams locked in a tight contest. In the second half, the game remained competitive until the 72nd minute, when Win Theingi Tun scored the decisive goal, securing Myanmar’s place in the final.The final match of the ASEAN Women’s Championship is scheduled to take place on August 19 at 7:30 PM local time in Viet Nam, where Myanmar will compete against Australia.mitv

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin visited earthquake-affected heritage sites in Tatkone and Kyaukse townships to inspect restoration efforts. At U Aung Zeya Pagoda in Tatkone, a historical site from the Konbaung era, the Union Minister urged proper restoration using traditional methods and adding earthquake-resistant features.They also visited Shwe Thalyaung Hill in Kyaukse to inspect the ongoing preservation of the Kyauk Thitta Ceti, which was damaged by the quake. The Union Minister called for collaboration among departments to restore the surrounding area as well.Later, they visited the Shwe Mu Htaw Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in 395 ME, where multiple stupas and structures were damaged. Restoration is underway following SOP guidelines jointly issued by the Ministries of Culture and Construction.The Union Minister also attended a religious ceremony for the enshrinement of a donated bronze Buddha image and relics. The Shwe Mu Htaw Pagoda is a prominent religious site in Kyaukse, regularly visited and supported by locals, especially during full moon days and the annual Tazaungdaing festival.mitv

Ecuador's Health Minister Jimmy Martin dismissed as "false" the reported figure of 18 newborn deaths during a press conference at Guayaquil's university hospital, explaining that 12 infants died in July from various causes."Among these 12 deaths, two have shown the presence of the KPC bacteria," Martin explains, adding that "an epidemiological alert was issued in July and protocols were activated to prevent the spread of this bacteria." Progress in Naungcho: Schools reopened and healthcare resumed in Naungcho
After nearly a year of closure due to armed violence, 61 basic education schools in Naungcho Township, Northern Shan State, have reopened since July 25, 2025.A total of 8,085 students are now attending classes peacefully, with 268 new students enrolled on Wednesday. In addition, the Naungcho People’s Hospital, which was previously damaged by armed groups, was repaired and reopened on August 2.The hospital has resumed its healthcare services, treating 89 outpatients on Wednesday for dengue, flu, and other illnesses. Blood type tests were conducted for 83 people, and one male patient underwent a dengue virus test. Currently, 36 inpatients are receiving treatment with necessary care provided by medical teams.Moreover, fire services teams are helping improve public sanitation by clearing roadside bushes and digging drainage channels near Hawtaw Monastery in the southern ward of Naungcho town.mitv
