Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited Baikal Lake on Sunday during his official visit to the Republic of Buryatia of Russian Federation. Situated between Irkutsk Oblast and the Republic of Buryatia, the Baikal Lake is the deepest lake in the world with over 5,300 ft depth.It is also the world’s oldest freshwater lake at about 30 million years. UNESCO declared the Baikal Lake as the World Heritage Site in 1996, and it is home to thousands species of plants and animals. The Prime Minister and party later proceeded to Ulan-Ude Locomotive and Carriage Repair Plant and observed the processes of repair work in the plant.Established in 1934, the plant is the subsidiary of Zheldorremmash Company which is one of the major companies in locomotive repairs and spare parts production.During the visit, the Prime Minister interacted with the local media outlets from the Republic of Buryatia, explaining the cooperation in economic, education, industrial technology and tourism sectors and enhancing friendship and collaboration between Myanmar and the Republic of Buryatia.mitv
