Hydrangea festival opens in western Tokyo. Hydrangea enthusiasts can enjoy a carpet of the flowers now at a museum in western Tokyo’s Fuchu city. A hydrangea festival is underway on the grounds of the Fuchu Municipal Museum Kyodonomori, featuring 10,000 hydrangea plants of about 30 varieties.

Annabelle hydrangeas, with white ball-shaped flowers, are covering a mound on the premises.  Other hydrangeas are blooming near a restored late 19th century to the early 20th century drugstore and farmhouse. An exhibition of more than 100 kinds of potted hydrangea plants is underway. Visitors are enjoying watching the flowers and snapping photos. The festival runs through next Sunday.
