Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on Tuesday accepted the Constitutional Court’s order to suspend her from duty, stemming from a Senate petition over an “audio clip” with a Cambodian leader. The court voted 9-0 to accept the case seeking her dismissal and 7-2 to suspend her, effective July 1, 2025.

Deputy Prime Minister Suriya Jungrungruangkit, 70, will serve as acting prime minister. Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai will assume this role on July 3 after being sworn in following a cabinet reshuffle.
