  • Consumer Council unveils results of rechargeable fan tests

To fight sweltering heat in the summer, portable fans are popular among some residents in Hong Kong. The Consumer Council has conducted tests on the performance and safety issues of some fan models. The Council tested 18 rechargeable portable fan models under two categories and the test results were unveiled on July 15.

According to international safety standards, the maximum temperature rise of the battery surface during charging should not exceed 20 degrees Celsius. The Council advised consumers to immediately disconnect power if they notice abnormal overheating or a smell coming from the fan. The council has urged fan manufacturers to upgrade user manuals to meet standard requirements.
