Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited Yangon’s historic Waziya Cinema, located in Kyauktada Township on Saturday.

Officials reported on the plans to upgrade the historic building into a Red Carpet Theatre that meets international standards while preserving its original Beaux-Arts architectural features. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of proper planning, parking spaces, and accessibility for the public.

Later, the Prime Minister visited the site of the Sarso Beikman in Mingala Taungnyunt Township. The three-storey building, still under construction, aims to honor Myanmar’s literary figures. It will include exhibition halls showcasing historic documents, books, portraits of famous writers, and a public library to promote reading culture and general knowledge.

The Prime Minister instructed to ensure timely completion with quality construction, effective displays, and a peaceful environment suitable for study. The current public library on the first floor of the old building will be upgraded and reopened under the motto “Light, where Darkness was” to support national intellectual and literary development.
