Restoring Stability: Cement supply resumes as key road reopens
Tatmadaw has regained full control of Naungcho and surrounding areas, including Taung Kham, and reopened the vital transportation route of Naungcho–Kyaukkyan–Ohnmakhar–Ohnmathee–Pyin Oo Lwin–Mandalay road.
This route had been blocked by terrorist armed groups, halting trade and disrupting the delivery of essential goods, especially cement. With the road now open, 59 trucks carrying a total of 1,947 tons in 36,580 bags of cement from the Crown Cement Factory near Laungphang village have been dispatched to Mandalay.
This supply is crucial for rebuilding homes, roads, bridges, and religious sites damaged during the recent earthquake. The previous blockade had caused shortages and high prices, but with transport routes restored, residents can now access cement at more affordable rates.
Authorities say the government and Tatmadaw are working together to support regional development, ensure public safety, and stabilize daily life in conflict-affected areas. Locals are also beginning to return to their hometowns and resume normal economic activities.
