Inspection of Reconstruction Efforts: SAC member inspected reconstruction efforts
Member of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister, and Union Minister for Transport and Communications, General Mya Tun Oo, accompanied by Deputy Minister U Aung Mying and officials from the Ministry and Myanma Railways, visited several locations in Mandalay Region on July 20.
He inspected Shan Ywar Station in Pyawbwe Township, Thazi Station, Bridge No. 691 between Samon Station and Thapyay Taung Station within Wun Twin Township, Thapyay Taung Station, and Kyaukse Station. The inspections covered the completion of demolition of old, earthquake-damaged station buildings, site clearance, the design of new stations, and the ongoing work utilizing Modular Offices.
The Union Minister provided necessary instructions based on his observations. In the evening, he inspected the damaged railway signal box within the Mandalay Central Station yard and the installation of a temporary railway signaling system using a Modular Office.
He then issued directives regarding the urgent major renovation and reconstruction of the original signal box. On the morning of July 21, the Union Minister and officials arrived at the Myanma Railways Passenger and Freight Carriages Factory (Myitnge).
They first inspected New Carriag Shed No. 3, where they observed the construction of container wagons, the trial construction of a DEMU (Diesel Electric Multiple Unit) train Carriages, major repairs of passenger and freight Carriages, and the production of new wheel bogies. He provided instructions on improving the durability of cars based on their lifespan and on the management of old, unusable train wheels.
From there, the Union Minister and officials proceeded to the Myanma Railways Freight Transportation Division compound in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay. They inspected the status of Myanma Posts and Telecommunications' replacement of earthquake-damaged high-rise building-mounted automobile telephone stations with mobile base station towers in the area.
The Union Minister also addressed the housing needs of staff families. Subsequently, the Union Minister visited the Regional Director's Office of the Department of Road Transport Administration in Maha Aungmyay Township, and the offices of Myanma Post, Myanma Telecommunications, and the Department of Communications within Pyigyidagun Township.
They inspected the completion of repairs to earthquake damage, the ongoing office operations using Modular Offices, and the temporary housing arrangements for staff families in Modular Houses, issuing necessary instructions.
