Meeting on Tourism Development: MoHT Union Minister delivered the opening speech
Union Minister U Kyaw Soe Win led a meeting at the Ministry’s Nila Meeting Hall to discuss the implementation of cruise tourism and cross-border convoy tours in the morning of July 23.
The discussion focused on strategies to attract more international tourists to visit destinations across Myanmar, the development and promotion of cruise tourism and cross-border tour convoys, identification of new travel routes, and the practical implementation of nature-based tourism initiatives.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister attended the launching ceremony for the tourism survey operations held at the Ministry’s Jade Hall.
In his speech, the Union Minister stated that this year, the ministry has planned to conduct both international and domestic tourism surveys in over 30 cities across Myanmar. He also noted that the ministry is participating as a member of the working group responsible for standards related to surveys and data, and that it is actively carrying out relevant activities. He emphasized that the findings from the tourism surveys will be instrumental in identifying travelers' needs, formulating future plans, innovating new tourism promotion strategies, enhancing service quality, and expanding and upgrading tourism-related markets. Therefore, he urged everyone to participate actively in the ongoing development of the data and statistics sector.
Following that, the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism gave a presentation on the 2025 plan for conducting inbound and domestic tourism surveys. After the presentation, the Union Minister officially handed over the uniforms that will be provided to staff assigned to collect the survey data, transferring them to the Director General.
