The opening ceremony for a training session on the format for collecting data on damage and losses caused by natural disasters was held at the Khaing Thazin Hall in Sittwe Township on July 24. The event was attended by Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, members of the state government, relevant departmental officials, trainees, and training participants.

At the ceremony, Chief Minister U Htein Lin explained that the training is organized by the committee responsible for conducting preliminary needs assessments, verifying damages and losses, and analyzing necessary requirements under the Rakhine State Disaster Management Committee. He emphasized that the attending departmental officials should carefully listen to and understand the explanation of the questionnaire forms and be able to engage in further discussion. Only through proper understanding can timely and accurate initial damage and loss data be collected when a natural disaster occurs, which in turn will support the recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Following the speech, the Chief Minister and officials cordially met and greeted the trainees.

Next, the State Focal Point from the Central Statistical Organization and Secretary of the Preliminary Needs Assessment, Damage and Loss Verification, and Requirement Analysis Committee for Rakhine State, Daw Swe Swe Toe, gave a detailed explanation on the components of the data collection forms, along with the respective responsibilities of the relevant departments.

Subsequently, Assistant Directors Daw Than Than Soe and Daw Yin Min Tun from the Central Statistical Organization also gave lectures on the formats for collecting data on damages and losses caused by natural disasters.
