"In Siberia-THERE is!": Myanmar tourism promotion booth attracted to residents
The "In Siberia-THERE is!" Food and Travel Exhibition was held in Novosibirsk, Russian Federation, from July 11 to July 13, 2025.
On the final day, July 13, Russian citizens and residents of Novosibirsk showed exceptional interest in the Myanmar tourism promotion booth organized by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. Visitors sampled traditional Myanmar cuisine, inquired about Myanmar's travel destinations and attractions, enthusiastically enjoyed traditional Myanmar cultural dances, and even participated themselves.
At the Myanmar booth, senior Myanmar chefs and Myanmar families cooked and served traditional Myanmar dishes, which were warmly received by exhibition attendees. Myanmar's Mohinga and Lahpet were particularly popular, and visitors were keen to sample locally produced Myanmar wine.
The Myanmar booth also engaged visitors with trivia questions about Myanmar, introduced basic Myanmar vocabulary and alphabets, offered commemorative gifts, and demonstrated traditional Myanmar paper doll making. Additionally, Myanmar participated in the amateur food and cooking competition organized by the Novosibirsk Food and Travel Exhibition Committee, showcasing Myanmar cuisine, which garnered significant interest among other competitors.
On the main public stage of the exhibition and at the Myanmar booth, Myanmar students studying abroad and families from the Consulate office performed traditional Myanmar dances, including the Thu Nge Daw dance, Dabindaing dance, U Shwe Yoe and Daw Moe dance, and traditional Myanmar puppetry.
They also showcased Myanmar harp music and traditional Chinlone performances. The Russian audience, especially the residents of Novosibirsk, enthusiastically supported and joyfully participated in these cultural displays, making the Myanmar booth a vibrant and bustling hub. Participation in this exhibition allowed for direct promotion of Myanmar's traditional cuisine, cultural arts, and prominent travel destinations to attendees.
It also served as an invitation for Russian tourists to learn more about Myanmar and plan visits. This initiative was instrumental in raising awareness of Myanmar among international and Russian tour operators, as well as Russian citizens, particularly the residents of Novosibirsk, thereby contributing significantly to boosting the Russian tourism market for Myanmar.
The Novosibirsk Food and Travel Exhibition was held at Mikhailovskaya Embankment Park, a 220,000 square meter area along the Ob River in Novosibirsk. Reports indicate that hundreds of thousands of visitors came to the Myanmar booth during the three-day exhibition period.
