A total of 19,243 tourists and homegrown visitors flocked to Shwethaungyan Beach in Pathein City, Ayeyawady Region, in May 2025, said Daw Cherry Myint, an executive of the Union of Myanmar Travel Association (Shwethaungyan Beach).
The beach hosts visitors throughout the year. There are over 20 hotels and guesthouses to facilitate the accommodation of the visitors.
“Shwethaungyan Beach attracted 19,243 visitors in May 2025. Most of them are day-trip visitors. There is a captivating destination (Kyauk Maunghnama Elephant Camp) close to the beach,” said Daw Cherry Myint.

Miss Cherry Moe, crowned Miss Supranational Myanmar 2025, will represent Myanmar at the Miss Supranational pageant to be held in Poland.
More than 70 countries, including Myanmar, will be sending their representatives to compete in this international beauty competition.

Australian journalist Lauren Tomasi was struck by a rubber bullet while covering immigration riots in Los Angeles, Tomasi and her employer have said. 

The incident occurred on Sunday as Tomasi, a correspondent for 9News Australia, was wrap ping up a live report near the city’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where riot police were facing off with demonstrators. 

A police officer standing behind Tomasi suddenly fired a projectile, which hit her in the leg. “I’m a bit sore, but I’m okay,” Tomasi wrote on X after the incident. 

At least ten people have been killed in a shooting at a school in the Austrian city of Graz, according to local authorities. The incident occurred around 10 am local time at BORG Drei erschutzengasse, a secondary school in the Lend District. 

Police confirmed that shots were fired inside the building, prompting a major response involving multiple units, including Cobra special forces and police helicopters. 

Terrorist groups have been engaging in battles, carrying out attacks using heavy weapons, drones to drop bombs and improvised explosive devices across towns and villages in various states and regions. Moreover, they are committing inhumane acts of terror and criminal activities including abducting and extorting money from civil servant’s families and local civilians, as well as killings.

In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
