Russia-North Korea strategic agreement enters into force

DEPUTY Foreign Minister of the DPRK, Kim Jong Gyu, and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Andrey Rudenko, signed the protocol on the exchange of ratification instruments.
The treaty takes effect from 4 December 2024, when the ratification instruments were exchanged according to Article 22 of the treaty, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

UNESCO inscribes Myanma Thingyan on ICH List

AT the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Asunción, Paraguay, on 2-7 December 2024, Myanmar’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture proposed the nomination file of “Myanmar’s Traditional Ata Thingyan Festival” to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

LONDON will witness elite sumo wrestlers in action as well as the ancient sport's pageantry, the Japan Sumo Association said Tuesday in announcing its first tour to the city in 34 years.
Speaking to a press conference at London's Royal Albert Hall, the venue for the association's 1991 visit, JSA president Hakkaku said next year's event will take place from 15 to 19 October, and will include matches between top-level wrestlers as well the sport's ring-entering ceremony.

S Korea president says will lift martial law

SOUTH Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol said Wednesday he would lift martial law, just hours after imposing it in a bid to quell what he called “anti-state forces”. Yoon backed down after lawmakers voted to oppose the unexpected declaration, which caught even South Korea’s closest allies around the world off guard.
Earlier the National Assembly was sealed and troops entered the building for a short time, while hundreds of protesters gathered outside chanting: “arrest Yoon Suk Yeol” and faced off with security forces.
