273 more foreign intruders to Myanmar uncovered and detained

As the government has been clamping down on criminal activities including online gambling and scams in border areas effectively, 273 more foreign intruders who entered Myawady - Shwe Kokko and KK Park through illegal routes were uncovered and detained today.

Through certain neighboring countries, including Thailand, individuals have unlawfully entered Myanmar through border routes. Illegal online gambling, online fraud, and criminal activities were carried out in Myawady, Shwe Kokko and KK Park area. From January 30 to February 17, 2025, a total of 1,303 foreign nationals were identified and detained.

Delta Air Lines plane flips on landing at Toronto airport, injuring 17

A Delta Air Lines plane flipped upon arrival at Toronto’s Pearson Airport and ended up on its roof Monday, injuring 17 people.

The airport confirmed on X that an “incident” occurred with the Delta flight from Minneapolis and that 76 passengers and four crew are accounted for. The accident happened about 2.15pm and flights at the airport, which handles more passengers than any other Canadian airport, were grounded for around two and half hours. Two runways will remain closed during the investigation.

Musk’s DOGE seeks access to US tax system: reports

ELON Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has sparked alarm by seeking access to a system with the US tax office that has detailed financial data about millions of Americans, US media reported.
Spearheaded by Musk, the world’s richest man, US President Donald Trump has embarked on a campaign to slash public spending deemed wasteful or contrary to his policies.
The Washington Post and others reported that the latest request is for DOGE officials to have broad access to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) systems, property and datasets.

False reports of drone attack in Gangaw circulated

UNVERIFIED reports from subversive media claim that security forces conducted an unprovoked drone attack on West Gangaw Village, west of Gangaw in Magway Region, resulting in civilian casualties and injuries.
According to a statement from a relevant security official, security forces do not target or attack villages where civilians reside without military justification. The official stated that only terrorist groups carry out attacks using heavy weapons and drones in areas where they lack local support, aiming to instill fear among the population.

Hinthada farmers profit from turmeric roots

THE farmers say that turmeric roots, which are used as a mosquito repellent, are a good sale item for them. “It is good for the farmers.
It is easy to deliver. We dig and sell them by ourselves without brokers. It is not bad. There is already a market for it, so it is good for the farmers and we can grow it on a small scale,” said a turmeric farmer in Hinthada Township.
They will start digging turmeric roots this month, and sell them directly to the Bayintnaung warehouses, without going through brokers.
