Lifestyle risks weigh heavier on women’s hearts: Study

LIFESTYLE and health factors that are linked with heart disease appear to have a greater impact on cardiovascular risk in women than men, according to a study being presented at the American College of Cardiology’s Annual Scientific Session.
While diet, exercise, smoking, and blood pressure have long been associated with heart disease risk, the new study is the first to indicate that these correlations are higher in women than in males.

The United States has disclosed that it has been holding direct talks with the Islamist group Hamas over the release of US hostages detained in the Gaza Strip. China unveils 7.2% increase in 2025 defense budget plan

The Chinese government has announced that its defense spending plan for this year is 7.2 percent larger than last year's.

The defense budget plan, unveiled at the opening session of the National People's Congress that began on Wednesday, is worth about 1.78 trillion yuan, or about 245 billion dollars.

The year-on-year growth rate for the plan was set at the same level as last year and 2023. It reflects Beijing's determination to continue its military buildup amid an economic slowdown.
