Temporary Accommodation: Relocation of staff affected by the earthquake

On 5th July, Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo accompanied by concerned officials inspected the completion of container houses installation and relocation of the earthquake affected staff families under the Ministry.

The Union Minister inspected the container houses at Nay Pyi Taw Central Railway Station, Road Transportation Administration Department Nay Pyi Taw Office (Ywa Taw), No. 2 and 5 offices, Nay Pyi Taw Central Post Office and Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications in Dekkinathiri Township. During the tour, the Union Minister oversaw the water and power access for the relocated staff families.

Work Coordination Meeting : Drafting the Recovery Plan for post-disaster

In order to implement rehabilitation tasks in earthquake affected areas under the guidance of the head of state, work coordination meeting for drafting the Recovery Plan took place at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on July 4th.

Speaking at the occasion, Union Minister Dr. Soe Win said based on the post-disaster survey on the damages, recovery plan will be drafted after implementing disaster response tasks and providing humanitarian assistance to those affected.

Renovation Works: Repairs of Ottarathiri Reservoir inspected

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung along with the Deputy Minister U Bo Bo Kyaw inspected the renovation works of Ottarathiri reservoir on Kyauk Oh Creek in Nay Pyi Taw on July 3rd.

The Union Minister and party made inspection on earth work for reinforcement of the ring bund and digging emergency spillway where he heard reports by the officials.  On the reports, the Union Minister instructed for timely completion of the renovation processes of the reservoir, meeting set standards.

Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, accompanied by officials, on July 1st, visited the Sin Thay Creek on the Lay Thar-Zee Kone road in Zayyarthiri Township and inspected the crop cultivation along both sides of the road and the creek, providing necessary instructions to the officials.

Following this, Chairman U Than Tun Oo visited the Uppatasanti Pagoda and inspected the progress of restoration and renovation work on the platform, terraces, and precincts damaged by the earthquake, as well as clearing operations, cement grouting, and soil stabilization efforts. He also observed the excavation and repair of the original platform flooring.

The Chairman provided necessary guidance and presented food and drinks to the Tatmadaw personnel involved in the work.

Next, Chairman U Than Tun Oo proceeded to the Yaza-Htani Road and inspected the ongoing repair work on road sections damaged by the earthquake and issued relevant instructions.

After that, Chairman U Than Tun Oo attended and delivered the opening remarks at an awareness workshop on designating tobacco-free zones in Nay Pyi Taw, Union Territory, held at the Nay Pyi Taw Council, Zambu Thiri Hall.

Subsequently, the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Public Health (Disease Control) presented on the dangers of tobacco and the establishment of tobacco-free zones.Then, the attendees discussed matters related to their respective sectors, and the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman provided instructions and coordinated necessary actions.

Inspection Tour: Development works in Ayeyawady Region

Vice Chairman of the Work Committee for Development of Resilient and Strong Social Community Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, together with Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win, visited U Pho Kyar Library in Neibban Village of Hinthada Township on Sunday.

They encouraged the students, studying literatures at the library. In meeting with the Library Supervisory Committee members, the Union Minister urged all to nurture the youths to have reading habit as the Ayeyawady Region has the establishment of libraries, honouring the prominent persons like National Education Minister U Pho Kyar and U Thant.

During the visit, books and periodicals, cash assistance and MRTV DTH sets were provided for the library. The Union Minister and party later visited the Kayinsu Village and provided paddy species, drum seeders and MRTV DTH sets to the farmers, before observing adding of green manure fertilizer to the plantation.

On arrival at the seed farm in Tagondaing Village, the Union Minister and party observed the cultivation of paddy in systematic method. They also encouraged the rendering of health care services by the specialists of Hinthada District People’s Hospital at Innma Ywa Oo Monastery, and donated offertories and MRTV DTH sets to the Presiding Sayadaw.

In Phaung Seik Village, the Union Minister attended Flood Prevention and Rescue Drill. They presented the Signaling Flags to be used in emergency situation as well as the MRTV DTH sets and DVB T2 Set Top Boxes. A discussion was also made on the need for disaster prevention measures and fostering a resilient and strong social community. They then viewed the demonstration on flood prevention and rescue drill.

The affected staff and their families have been relocated at the temporary place in the compound of Nay Pyi Taw Hoteliers Association in Deckhinathiri Township. Container houses, provided by the National Disaster Management Committee have been assembled to relocate the staff families.
