During the talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland Monday, President Donald Trump said that the tariff for "essentially the rest of the world", of between 15 to 20 percent, targeting pharmaceuticals would be announced.

Starmer, under domestic pressure to follow France's lead and recognize a Palestinian state, called the situation unfolding in Gaza an "absolute catastrophe".

Thailand and Cambodia agreed to an immediate ceasefire and a halt to all troop movements along their shared border.  The significant de-escalation follows coordinated discussions held on Tuesday across three key border regions, preceding a crucial General Border Committee meeting scheduled for August 4. The series of meetings held simultaneously, aimed at stabilizing the border situation.

A ceremony for the donation of books titled "Myanmar and Earthquakes" and "Earthquake Disaster Risk Reduction Awareness in Myanmar," authored by Dr. Thein, former Professor and Head of the Department of Geology at Yangon University, was held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw. The Black, Red and Amber rainstorm warning signals were issued Tuesday morning, with the heavy rain causing flooding in many areas of Hong Kong. There was heavy flooding in a carpark in Wan Tsui Estate, a housing estate in eastern Hong Kong Island.

It has long been a flooding blackspot. At the Chai Wan Road roundabout, flooding reached calf height, forcing passing vehicles to wade through the water.  Tai Tam Road in Southern District of Hong Kong Island was flooded due to heavy rain.
