Young Environmental Heroes honoured in Turkiye
Two brothers in Turkiye’s northeastern Gümüşhane province have been honoured by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change for their efforts in keeping their mountain home clean. Mete Koç, aged 9, and his 13-year-old brother Bayram, who reside in the scenic Taşköprü Plateau, became viral sensations after a video of them collecting trash and voicing frustration over pollution caught public attention on social media. Their actions were soon recognized by the government, and the Ministry rewarded the boys with the honorary title of “Environmental Inspectors”, along with a series of gifts in appreciation.
