During his trip to China for the World Economic Forum in Tianjin, Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính met with Chen Jining, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai, on Thursday.

The Prime Minister congratulated Shanghai on its achievements in modernization, innovation, and reform and called the city a “testbed” for China’s opening-up policies.

The Vietnamese leader also called for deeper cooperation between Shanghai and Vietnamese localities in areas such as smart city development, transportation infrastructure, digital transformation, AI, semiconductors, and financial sector reform.

In turn, Secretary Chen welcomed the visit and praised Viet Nam’s development progress, affirming Shanghai’s commitment to strong ties with Vietnam. He pledged readiness to work closely with Vietnamese ministries and localities to implement agreements made between top leaders of the two countries.
