Development Works: Recovery efforts in earthquake-hit villages

Development works are being carried out at two earthquake-hit villages of Magyipin and Nyaung Pin Tha in Nay Pyi Taw Tatkone Township.

On Wednesday, Chairman of the Work Committee on the Development of a Resilient and Strong Social Community Union Minister at the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office U Ko Ko Hlaing visited the villages to oversee the work progress.

As part of the rehabilitation efforts, sewing training course has been conducted for the women in Magyipin Village-tract for income generation and creating job opportunities. In addition, the national registration cards have been issued to the local populace and students under the Pan Khin Project Phase-3. Likewise, embankment has been built along Nawin Creek while health care services are being provided for the villages by the specialists from 100-bed People’s Hospital of Tatkone.

In addition, staff from Social Welfare Department are providing caring service to those for venerable groups. Efforts are also made for development of livestock breeding sector, ensuring food sufficiency in the village.

It is learnt that plans are underway to develop tourism in ancient historic Thar Kho Taung area as part of Nyaung Pin Tha Resort. During the visit, the Union Minister pledged to provide assistance for recovery efforts, and outlined the plan for community tourism for creating job opportunities. He called for cooperation of all comunities for cleaning and beautifying of the village.
