A wildfire that broke out on July 2nd in a rural area of Ildir, Türkiye has spread to nearby forested land and continues to burn. Strong winds have fuelled the blaze, causing it to intensify and approach residential areas near the Urla district border.

Forest fire fighting teams are battling the flames with a large-scale response, including 6 planes, 19 helicopters, 39 water tenders, 14 water supply vehicles, and 4 bulldozers. Due to the advancing fire, two neighborhoods in Cesme and one in Urla were evacuated as a precaution.

The fire has caused damage to several homes in the affected areas. The Izmir-Cesme highway was closed to traffic for safety reasons, and transportation is currently being rerouted via the Izmir-Cesme motorway.

A rapidly-expanding brush fire in Southern California has scorched more than 2,400 acres and prompted evacuation orders, local authorities said Monday.

The blaze, dubbed the Wolf Fire, ignited around 3 p.m. Sunday near Old Banning Idyllwild Road and Wolfskill Truck Trail in Riverside County, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) reported.

Firefighters made significant progress overnight, Cal Fire said. Hundreds of personnel, supported by multiple aircraft, have been deployed to battle the flames and establish containment lines.

As of Monday afternoon, the fire was reported to be just 10 percent contained.

Evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect for nearby communities, according to Cal Fire.

Firefighters battled a wildfire in the town of La Rumorosa, Baja California, Mexico.

Two people, including a child, died in a violent storm that lashed France overnight, emergency services said Thursday.

In southern France, a falling tree killed a 12-year-old boy, while a man on a quad bike died after crashing into another that had been brought down by the storm. The violent downpour late Wednesday injured 17 others, one seriously, France's emergency services said.

The storms followed a sweltering heat wave with temperatures passing 35 degrees Celsius. It brought gusts of wind exceeding 100 kilometers per hour that damaged property.

Flooding in China's southwest has driven more than 80,000 people from their homes, state media said on Wednesday.

Over 80,000 people had been evacuated by Tuesday afternoon in the southwestern province of Guizhou. Severe flooding has inundated villages and collapsed a bridge in one mountainous area of the province. Rescue teams have been sent to two counties in Guizhou, where the flood control emergency response has been raised to its highest level.
