A fire and water rescue demonstration organized by the Magway Region Fire Services Department was held on Saturday. The event showcased emergency response capabilities in situations like floods and fires.

Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended the event, and emphasized the importance of the Fire Services Department’s four main duties, fire prevention, natural disaster preparedness, search and rescue operations, and public service. He highlighted the need for timely response to natural disasters such as floods, storms, and earthquakes due to global climate changes.

Demonstrations included flood rescue using assault boats, lifebuoy-based rescues, and firefighting on a mock burning fuel barge. Rescue tools and boats were also displayed during the event.

US President Donald Trump spoke Friday of seeing devastation like he'd never before experienced as he toured parts of Texas hit by devastating flash floods that have left at least 120 people dead, including dozens of children. The Republican leader and First Lady Melania Trump were in the Hill Country of central Texas to meet first responders, victims' families and local officials, a week after a rain-swollen river swept away houses, camp cabins, cars and people.

Hong Kong has been hit by heavy rainfall on Thursday, with the Red Rainstorm Warning Signal issued three times by the Observatory by early afternoon. As the weather is expected to continue to be bad, the Education Bureau announced that all day schools will be closed on Friday. All districts recorded about 50 mm of rainfall. The Observatory predicts that the remnants of Danas will continue to cross eastern Guangdong and then pass near Guangzhou.

The town of Ruidoso, New Mexico, has been hit by unprecedented flooding at a historical high of 20 feet, which is five feet over last year record. The town's mayor confirmed that three people died, including two young children, during a press conference. Ruidoso is a popular tourist resort in the Sierra Blanca mountains of southern New Mexico.

The neighboring state of Texas has been hit by devastating floods that have left a hundred people dead and over 160 missing.

The Jakarta Provincial Disaster Management Agency reported that 52 neighborhoods in the capital city are still affected by floodwaters until July 8, while approximately 300 people are still staying in several evacuation centers.

This situation is caused by heavy rainfall, tidal flooding, as well as overflow from several rivers and connecting drainage channels. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency issued flood warning from July 4 to 13. Severe flooding triggered by heavy monsoon rains has caused widespread destruction in Nepal’s Rasuwa district, near the China border.

At least a person is confirmed dead, and 17 others including 11 Nepalese and 6 Chinese nationals remain missing. The swollen stream swept away the Miteri Pul (Bridge), a vital bridge linking Nepal and China, and caused significant damage to the Rasuwa-gadhi Hydropower Dam. Rescue teams have safely evacuated nine stranded individuals from various locations in Rasuwa.

More than 160 people are still listed as missing in Texas, following catastrophic flooding that killed more than 100 over the weekend, the state's governor says.

"Just in the Kerr County area alone, there are 161 people who are known to be missing," Governor Greg Abbott tells reporters. He added the figure was based on people reported as unaccounted for by friends, relatives and neighbors.

Two people were killed when their vehicle was buried under a landslide after a series of earthquakes shook much of the Central American country on Tuesday.

The swarm of tremors up to 5.6 magnitude rattled the country on Tuesday afternoon, centered near the towns of Amatitlan and Alotenango southwest of the capital. The quakes were also felt in neighboring El Salvador. The landslide occurred on a road southwest of the capital near the city of Antigua Guatemala in the central highlands.

The quake had also trapped a family of five, who were being rescued, and two others treated for injuries after being freed. The tremors forced dozens to evacuate buildings in Guatemala City. Central America often experiences tremors due to the shifting Caribbean and Cocos tectonic plates.

Heavy and persistent monsoon rains have disrupted life in various parts of Bangladesh on Tuesday night inundating low-lying areas, triggering waterlogging and raising concerns of potential flash floods, particularly in the country’s southeastern districts.

The Ganges and Padma rivers are experiencing a gradual rise in water levels which may continue for the next five days according to the latest forecast. According to weather experts, a low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining regions, combined with active southwest monsoon conditions, is driving the current rainfall pattern.

One of the monsoon troughs extends into the North Bay, making the sea rough and increasing the likelihood of more rain in the coming days.
