Re-entering the Legal Fold: 15 members of MDY-PDF re-entered the legal fold
The Tatmadaw has consistently prioritized the stability and peace of the State. As a result of successful Counter-Terrorism Operations, it has permanently regained control of areas previously held by terrorist insurgents.
Local ethnic people have joyfully welcomed and supported these successes. Their enthusiastic support and trust have led to their cooperation with the Tatmadaw, prompting members of armed terrorist groups to understand the peace process.
Consequently, these individuals are reporting to nearby military camps and security police outposts to re-enter the legal fold. Between July 17 and July 24, a total of 69 individuals re-entered the legal framework. This includes 4 members of TNLA, 41 members of DPLA, and 24 members of MDY-PDF. They surrendered with 13 various weapons, 1515 rounds of various ammunition, and 12 magazines.
Today on July 25, 15 individuals from MDY-PDF included 14 men and 1 woman also re-entered the legal fold. They stated their desire to live peacefully within the law and their acceptance of the Government's peace process. Officials welcomed them, provided necessary assistance, and are systematically handing them over to their parents or guardians.
According to statements from those who have re-entered the legal framework, they were originally peaceful citizens. They reported being forcibly recruited by terrorists who threatened their families if they refused to join. They also described enduring harsh living conditions in the jungle, lacking proper food and shelter. Within their groups, they experienced bullying, racial discrimination, and class discrimination, often at gunpoint.
Due to the significant casualties suffered during the Tatmadaw's Counter-Terrorism Operations, they were unable to resist further and no longer wished to fight. This led to a decline in morale as they faced various difficulties and dangers in their attempts to escape for survival. They came to understand that the actions of the terrorists severely impacted the socio-economic lives of innocent civilians. Their desire to reunite with their families and live peacefully as before, coupled with their understanding of the Government's peace process, prompted them to leave their groups and re-enter the legal framework through nearby Tatmadaw camps.
The Government warmly welcomes and supports those who re-enter the legal fold, systematically handing them back to their parents or guardians. It is understood that there are still individuals who wish to return to the legal fold. Those desiring to re-enter are urged to contact their nearest district/township administrative bodies, military camps, or police stations immediately. They will be welcomed, and rewards will be duly given for surrendered weapons and ammunition.
