Two Female Students Killed, Three Injured in Heavy Weapon Attacks by KIA Insurgents and So-Called PDF Terrorists in Hpakant Township of Kachin State

Terrorists are ruthlessly carrying out abductions, killings and armed attacks, using both heavy and small weapons, on wards and villages, as well as conducting drone strikes, all with the intent to harm civilians and spread fear. They are also indiscriminately planting landmines on public roads, targeting government offices with explosives and engaging in destructive acts without regard for reason or morality.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 7 August 2025 at 2:00 PM, a report stated that KIA insurgents and so-called PDF terrorists fired heavy weapons into Aye Mya Thar Yar Ward, U-Mar Village, Hmaw Si Sar Village and Seik Mu Village, resulting in the deaths of two female students and injuries to three others. When security personnel conducted further investigation and found that KIA insurgents and so-called PDF terrorists launched heavy weapon attacks to the ward and villages on 4 and 5 August 2025. As a result, Ma Shwe Tha Zin Win (15 years old) and Ma Ni Ni Win (18 years old), both Grade 10 students at Hpakant Basic Education High School and residents of U-Mar Village, died on the spot. Additionally, Ma Khit Thit Oo (18 years old), a Grade 10 student at Hpakant Basic Education High School and resident of Seik Mu Village, Ma Han Thu Zar Tun (nine years old), a Grade 4 student at Ngha Pyaw Taw Sub-Basic Education Middle School and resident of Aye Mya Thar Yar Ward and Ma Zun Yati Htet (14 years old), a Grade 9 student at the Kaday Post Basic Education Primary School and also resident of Aye Mya Thar Yar Ward, sustained shrapnel injuries. Ma Han Thu Zar Tun and Ma Khit Thit Oo are currently receiving medical treatment at Hmaw Shan Hospital in Seik Mu Village while Ma Zun Yati Htet is currently receiving medical treatment at the Hpakan Township Public Hospital, it is reported.
It has been reported that the security personnel are investigating the culprits of the acts of terrorism from the above incident to take effective action in accordance with the law.
