  • PDF terrorists attack Sagaing Region, 1 dead, 13 hurt

AT 11:45 pm on 29 December, PDF terrorists set fire to a two-storey teaching hall measuring 108 feet in length, 33 feet in width, and 22 feet in height at a basic education high school in Zarhaw village, Gangaw Township, Sagaing Region.

In a separate incident, PDF terrorists launched a drone attack on Sargon village in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, dropping bombs that tragically killed a woman and injured eight other women and five men. The injured were transported to the People’s Hospital in Kanbalu Township for medical treatment. 

PDF terrorists under the NUG employ coercion, intimidation, arrests, and killings targeting students, teachers, and parents. They destroy school buildings through arson and the use of explosives, instilling fear in villagers who do not support them. Their tactics include drone and heavy weapon attacks, resulting in the loss of innocent lives. These actions aim to disrupt educational opportunities and leave the youth uneducated. 

Security forces actively work to safeguard local communities and take measures to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for these incidents. — MNA/MKKS

North Korea says its leader Kim Jong Un oversaw a joint striking drill of ballistic missile and long range artillery systems on Thursday. Government of the Republic of the Union of MyanmarOffice of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence ServicesStatement on Temporary Ceasefire(10th Waxing of Kason, 1387ME)6th May 20251.       The Tatmadaw has already declared a temporary cessation of military operations during the period from 2nd to 30th April 2025 with the aim of facilitating swift humanitarian and reconstruction operations in the areas affected by the powerful Mandalay earthquake that jolted on 28 March.2.       Currently, the state is intensively engaging in reconstruction of damaged government offices and departments, public residences and transport facilities and rehabilitation undertakings in the earthquake-affected areas, while the international community is rendering a helping hand.3.       In this regard, the Tatmadaw extends the temporary ceasefire period from 6 to 31 May 2025 in order to facilitate rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in earthquake-affected areas, to serve the interest of the entire nation and people with greater acceleration, to achieve genuine and long-lasting peace and in view of peace and stability.4.       During this period, all ethnic armed organizations and other armed groups are warned against disrupting and destroying public transportation and communication routes, endangering civilian lives and property, attacking security forces’ bases that are enforcing the rule of law or military command headquarters and mobilizing or regrouping troops and expanding territories that may undermine peace. Ukraine drone attack shuts Moscow airports, says Russia
Russia says Ukraine has launched an overnight drone attack targeting Moscow for the second night in a row.All four of the capital's major airports were closed for several hours to ensure safety but later reopened, Russia's aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia said on Telegram.Moscow's mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, said on social media at least 19 Ukrainian drones had been destroyed before they reached the city "from different directions". He said some of the debris had landed on one of the key highways into the city, but there were no casualties.Ukraine has not yet commented. But the mayor of Kharkiv said Russia had also carried out drone strikes in the city overnight, as well as in the Kyiv area.The governor of Ukraine's Odesa region, Oleh Kiper, said one person was killed in a drone strike.It is the second night in a row that Russia has reported a drone attack by Ukraine - on Monday, Russia's defence ministry said it had destroyed 26 Ukrainian drones overnight.Unconfirmed reports by Russian military bloggers suggested windows of an apartment in the south of Moscow were smashed.As well as in Moscow, the governors of other Russian cities, including Penza and Voronezh, also said they had been targeted by drones overnight into Tuesday.Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than three years ago, Kyiv has launched several drone attacks on Moscow. Over 100 killed in clashes in Syria, human rights group says
A group monitoring the human rights situation in Syria says a series of clashes in the country has left more than 100 people dead. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights made the announcement on Thursday.Interim leaders are currently governing Syria after the collapse of President Bashar al-Assad's regime last December.Fierce fighting broke out earlier this week in an area near the capital, Damascus, mainly inhabited by members of the minority Druze community. The clashes later spread elsewhere.The fighting involved armed groups from the Druze community and the majority Sunni Muslims, as well as forces of the interim government.The UN chief's Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen issued a statement on Wednesday.The statement says Pedersen is "alarmed" at "the potential for further escalation of an extremely fragile situation." NO 902-down train that departed from Kyaukdaga Township yesterday morning retreated from milepost 107/4-5 between Kyaukdaga and Thahtaygon railway stations on the Yangon-Mandalay section in Bago Region as the railway track was destroyed due to the mine blast planted by insurgents.The railway section was also temporarily suspended. Regional officials and security forces members proceeded to the site promptly for inspection, and they also found an unexploded homemade mine near the incident location.The MR staff repaired the damage to reopen the railway section as quickly as possible, and the railway section was reopened on the same afternoon.Since February 2021, terrorist groups have been perpetrating 81 mining attacks and explosions within railway areas and stations, 81 blasts on railway bridges, and 16 instances of blazing stations and employee housing. Over K280M worth of drugs seized in Tachilek
Drugs valued at over K280 million were seized in Tachilek Township of Shan State, as reported by the Myanmar Police Force.Acting on a tip-off, a combined team, including members of the Anti-Drug Police Force, conducted a search of a rental department in Tachilek Township at 6 pm on 8 April. They arrested Nyi Lauk Si with 1,200 stimulant tablets and 10 grammes of low-grade opium while police arrested Sai Kat at room No 17 of this rental department with 24 grammes of Ketamine, 35 grammes of Happy Water, 200 stimulant tablets and 250 grammes of low-grade opium.According to the investigation, police arrested Si Thu Phyo in room 5 of same rental department with 400,000 stimulant tablets and a Honda CRV.Legal proceedings have been conducted against the offenders, and an ongoing investigation is underway to apprehend others involved in the case. — MNA/MKKSSource: Global New Light of Myanmar
