Individuals involved in illegal online gambling and financial fraud identified and arrested in Hsanhsai (A) Ward, Tachileik, Shan State (East), necessary investigations and actions being carried out

The government is actively identifying and taking effective measures against illegal online gambling and financial fraud activities. Additionally, in collaboration with international partners, the government is vigorously combating criminal activities.
Furthermore, responsible authorities at various region and state levels are strictly handling and conducting investigations to ensure that illegal online gambling, financial fraud, and other criminal activities are eradicated within their jurisdictions.
Security forces, including joint task forces, are rigorously conducting searches and investigations.
During these operations, in Tachileik Township, Shan State (East), security forces conducted a raid on February 12 in Hsanhsai (A) Ward, Tachileik Township, based on information about illegal online gambling and financial fraud activities.
They arrested 16 individuals, including 11 men and 5 women, in a house rented by a Thai national named We San. Among those arrested were Min Kyaw, the online gambling supervisor, and Yi Yi Phyo, the interpreter and accountant.
Authorities seized 61 laptops, 329 flat desktop computers, 90 CPUs, 90 various phones, 2 unlicensed vehicles, and related equipment used for illegal online gambling.
Continuing their investigations, the joint security task forces conducted another raid on the evening of February 13 in the same ward, arresting 13 individuals, including 7 Thai men, 1 Myanmar man, and 5 Myanmar women. They confiscated 50 computers, 300 various phones, 4 packages of wet opium poppy leaves (approximately 1 kg each), 10 bottles of opium poppy leaf extract (1 liter each), and 30 bottles of cough syrup.
In total, during the operations on February 12 and 13 in Hsanhsai (A) Ward, Tachileik Township, authorities arrested 29 individuals, including 7 Thai men, 12 Myanmar men, and 10 Myanmar women.
They seized 440 computers, 90 CPUs, 390 various phones, 2 unlicensed vehicles, 4 packages of wet opium poppy leaves (approximately 1 kg each), 10 bottles of opium poppy leaf extract (1 liter each), 30 bottles of cough syrup, and related equipment.
According to the statements of the arrested individuals, the Thai nationals entered Myanmar through the No. 1 Friendship Bridge for visits and work purposes.
They were contacted by individuals involved in illegal online gambling and financial fraud, leading to their involvement in these activities.
The online gambling operation is owned by a Thai national named We San, who resides in Chiang Mai, Thailand, along with his wife, Rankyu.
Authorities are continuing necessary security procedures to apprehend the related suspects as quickly as possible.
The arrested individuals are being systematically investigated, and legal actions are being pursued in accordance with the law.
