200 more foreign nationals illegally entering Myanmar detained

The government has been actively collaborating with international partners to effectively crack down on illegal activities, including online gambling, online scams, and other criminal offenses.
Particularly, foreign nationals who have illegally entered and resided in border areas, engaging in online gambling and online scam operations, are being investigated, identified, and systematically deported to their respective countries in accordance with legal procedures.
In the ongoing investigations, today, an additional 200 foreign nationals were detained. These individuals had illegally entered Myanmar through border routes, transiting through neighboring countries, and were involved in illegal online gambling and online scams in areas such as Myawady, Shwe Kokko, KK Park, and Mehtaw Thalay in Kayin State. Authorities are now collecting necessary personal information and records to facilitate their swift repatriation to their respective countries, with interdepartmental teams working around the clock to complete the process.
During the operations, Kayin State Government’s Minister for Security and Border Affairs, Colonel Min Thu Kyaw, and other officials inspected the detention facilities where the foreign nationals are being held. They reviewed the personal details and records of the newly detained individuals and coordinated necessary measures for their repatriation.
From January 30 to February 26, 2025, a total of 2,738 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar have been identified Additional 200 foreign nationals illegally entering the country detained.
