In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 28 February 2025 at 11:00 AM, a report stated that a man was injured by gunfire in Na Bal Tan Village, Chauk Township of Magway Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that U Myint Swe (68 years old), a 100-household elder and resident of the village, was at his house when five so-called PDF terrorists arriving by three motorcycles and opened fire on him. As a result, U Myint Swe sustained gunshot wounds. Additionally, the terrorists robbed a motorbike, two pairs of gold earrings, a mobile phone and 400,000 MMK in cash before fleeing. The injured individual was transported to Sa Lay Station Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the assassination of administrative official in the aforementioned case, it is reported.
