Terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are monks, civil servants, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 4 March 2025 at 5:45 PM, a report stated that a man and monk were shot dead in Ohm Tine Village, Phekon Township of Southern Shan State. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that Venerable Bhaddanta Dhammasara (47 years old) and with 27 years as monkhood, the abbot of Shan Pitakat Taik (Shan Dhamma Hall) monastery in Zay Ahshae Ward and Sai Khin Maung Lat (36 years old), a resident of Zay Ahshae Ward, were at a monastery in Ohm Tine Village when four so-called PDF terrorists arriving by two motorcycles and opened on them. As a result, they died on the spot, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killings and the assassinations of monk and innocent civilian in the aforementioned case, it is reported.
