State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing addresses the meeting on security and development of Yangon Region
WHEN public service personnel cooperate with the government in security with security awareness and knowledge, they can prevent weakness in security measures, said Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in his speech at the meeting on security and development of Yangon Region on Konmyinttha of Yangon Region yesterday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General recounted that, according to past events in Myanmar and the international community, those who are not honest in politics will surely suffer consequences.
He clearly reaffirmed that the government will hold the election as its ultimate aim to be able to hand over the State power to the elected government.
With regard to security measures, the Senior General pointed out that security is never superfluous, and public participation contributes to stronger security.
He added that public security and counter-terrorism forces must have security awareness and knowledge.
He continued that the Myanmar Police Force, which is a primarily responsible force for public security, must have ability and prowess.
The Senior General highlighted that police and administrative officials need to apply their experiences in restoring rule of law and regional security measures.
He stressed that district administrators need to review data on their townships, changes in conditions and the possibility of security breakdown and ensure the rule of law, disciplined living and beautification of townships.
He noted that district administrators need to focus on raising school enrolment and the number of educated citizens in relevant districts while managing the creation of employment opportunities for residents.
The Senior General emphasized that relevant administrative bodies need to manage the mental and physical well-being of people in the districts as much as they can.
He urged administrative officials to serve their duties honestly and effectively manage administrative measures to ensure peace, stability and development in assigned districts.
At the meeting, the Commander of Yangon Command, Maj-Gen Zaw Hein, reported on taking measures for peace and stability in relevant military stations, formation of people’s security and counter-terrorism forces, participation of depart- mental officials in the collection of population and household census, arrests of terrorists and seizures of arms and ammunition, and involvement of Tatmadaw members and MPF members in beautifying the public areas and religious edifices.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein presented reports on security measures taken in townships and on main roads, formation of the people’s security and counter-terrorism force supervisory committee, assistance for public security and counter-terrorism forces, collection of the census in relevant plots, and collaboration to take security measures for ensuring peace and stability of regions.
Also present at the meeting were SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, SAC Member Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and members of the Yangon Region cabinet. — MNA/TTA
