Myanmar to cooperate with ASEAN in line with charter and spirit

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received ASEAN Navy Chiefs and leaders of delegations who will attend the 18th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting to be hosted by Myanmar, at Zeyathiri Beikman Hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

First, the Senior General discussed the best cooperation of Myanmar in ASEAN. Maritime collaboration in the ASEAN region needs to cooperate in conducting rehearsals for preparedness against natural disasters, exchange of experiences in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation for loss and damage in natural disasters, and cooperation among ASEAN navies at the time of natural disasters.

ASEAN Navy Chiefs and delegation leaders introduced themselves and talked about the full hospitality of Myanmar to delegations while attending the meeting and

arriving in Myanmar. They discussed the plan to host the 18th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting and further enhance the cooperation of ASEAN Navies with Myanmar.

In his response, the Senior General revealed that Myanmar aspires to have friendly relations with all ASEAN member states. He pledged that Myanmar would cooperate with all ASEAN member states in terms of friendly relations and ASEAN spirit, following ASEAN charters and cementing friendly ties. He expressed his thanks to all ASEAN Navy Chiefs and leaders of delegations to attend the 18th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting.

Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were SAC member

Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Vice-Admiral Htein Win, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, and senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Navy Chiefs and leaders of delegations from Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines who will attend the 18th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting. — MNA/TTA
