  • Qantas customers warned to be wary of scams, hacking attempts

Qantas said a significant amount of data has likely been stolen putting around 6 million Australians at risk of a data breach. The airline said that they were first notified about the attack yesterday when they detected unusual activity on a third-party platform used by a Qantas airline contact centre.

An initial review has confirmed that customers’ details, email addresses, birth dates, phone numbers, and their frequent flyer numbers, have been accessed, but the company as well as the Federal Government has reassured people that their personal financial details, their credit card numbers and passport information, has not been compromised. Experts are now warning people to be vigilant and be on guard for unusual and suspicious communications.
