A major Drug Bust: 148.797 kg of heroin from Shan State (North) seized
A combined team including members of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, acting on a tip, intercepted a NISSAN DIESEL 6-wheel vehicle near Taung Taw Village, on the inter-District road connecting Kyaukse and Meiktila Districts at 3:00 PM, on June 22.
The vehicle, driven by Than Aung Soe (aka Myauk Gyi) and accompanied by Paing Khant, was traveling from Mong Ral, Shan State (North), to Mandalay. Upon inspection, authorities seized 148.797 kg of heroin from the vehicle.
Further investigation led to the apprehension of Nan Thiri Aung, Han Htun Naing (aka Sai Kyaw Mein), and Saw Yan Naing on June 26, at 1:00 PM, on the Pinlong-Lai Char road in Loilem Township. They were arrested in connection with arranging the transport of the seized heroin from Mong Ral to Mandalay. Among the three, Han Htun Naing (aka Sai Kyaw Mein) was a wanted fugitive in connection with previous drug cases.
Based on further revelations from the investigation, on June 29, at 12:30 PM, Phone Myint Kyaw (aka U Tee Pwar) and Zaw Zaw Naung (aka Ko Naung), who were involved in transporting the drugs, were further arrested at a house in Hlae Yoe Ward, Aungpan Township. Phone Myint Kyaw (aka U Tee Pwar) was also a wanted fugitive for drug-related offenses.
According to information from the Myanmar Police Force, the investigation revealed that Aung Phyo Thu from Kone Thar Village, Hsipaw Township, and Sai Saw from Mong Ral Township were the individuals who transferred the drugs. Legal action has been taken against them, and efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in this criminal network.
